I just reached Captain rank now i can't rob anyone with a lower rank then me. Which suck because there is no one around me at my level. Is it possible to drop back down a rank if i go and attack ruins and lose. Other wise i'm pretty stuck at the moment with no hope of building much i'm good with everything but trees and you can't buy many tree on the market. So i guess i might be waiting awhile for any progress to be made which just plain sucks.

there are "quests", requiring you to pay black gems which allow to downgrade, but only if you attack lower rank ruins and for a very limited time (like 8 hours).
what bumps up your rank most - is your army.
especially in the beginning it's dead simple to return to esquire rank.
just attack something much stronger and sacrifice that part of your army of which you don't care (ie. not healers
). tip: wizards bump your rating very much and they are completely useless at the beginning of the game.
