How do I join a clan?

How do I join a clan?

I can find the clan list on the ratings sheet, but not sure what to do. Do I just pick a clan and message the clan head for an invite?

yup.
You have to be invited by clan leader.

You must have the diplomatic Corps Building built in your capitol city to accept a clan invite or to have allies also.
