How can I earn BG (Black Gems) without paying real cash for it? Thanks in advance.

at higher levels you can buy it in auction with in game gold. I say at higher levels because it looks like most lots sell for millions...

You get BG from ruins, so yes, you can find them without cash. Lakes also provide alot of BG's so they are very good finds.
