OK with in my kingdom its self i see several lakes what are they for and what can be built on them? Also can you drain them?

At this point they seem to be useless as i see nothing in any of my buildings that i can build or build in the future that can go on them and i do not see water as a resource needed in the game so i seem to be stuck with several tiles that are dead zones that i can not build on or use and i am not willing to upgrade my town hall to a lvl 5 yet until i have found a mentor and have been shown the ropes better than the in game guy did which was very poor left me with several questions that i had to figure out on my own and more or less seems more like just a another button in the game but to find a list or quest to do to earn rewards.

I am assuming the lakes in your town are like the trees in mine. My trees cannot be built on and just waste space.
But there is a fix for it

In the science tree you can research "Terraformation" (its in the middle right under "Construction" - 2nd one down from the top)

After you research that you can build a "Terraformer" on top of the lake (if your lakes are like my trees) it will destroy your lake and create a open useable square. My Level 1 "Terraformer's" take 96 hours to destroy the trees on the square I place it on. But if you level it up to level 2 it only takes 24hrs.

The "Terraformer" building goes away once it destroys your useless lakes. So each spot you have lakes you will have to build a "Terraformer" for each one.
