I think this game realy needs a reworking of all timed things like training time for troops . time it take u to make them are crazy lopsided , not to mention the time to wait for sciences . Very slow going . Unbalanced hinders this game badly .

not quite true. Try building and upgrading more Alchemist labs for science. Upgrade military buildings to accelerate the training. Make sure you always have enough people and resources for all upgrades and training to be done.

this is strategy game dude... if u want to play faster game =>>> MARIO should be good for U
ill give U small examples
healer in building lvl1 trains 7h 20min
at lvl 7 , with specialization , sciencnce military drill lvl 20, and reduced trooops training it takes ABOUT 20 MIN
imagine that U have 20 buildings like that... => 720 HEALERS PER DAY !
same with science, in beginning U dont have alot... later =>>>> over 15000 is easy to achieve.

well, this game gets REALLY FAST, when you reach high levels
unless you need something like old time MUD:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD
occupied by students of IT divisions, which let them replace "real" life with online life (and require just as much attention), playing something like mylands gives you a good balance between a bit of entertainment for an hour of a day, and real life AFK

Lol lv 7 buildings wow realy all the resources needed for that is out ragest not to mention the time it takes to build n wait . I hit lv 2 star and now I cant even farm lv 1 star players . The server is \ game not getting much new ppl playing and there removing old acts . making even more harder to get resources you need to make troops to hit ruins . I am no newbie to games like this , I am just bringing to light the slownest of obtaining things you need , This is why the many ppl dont stay and play , Dont get me wrong the game is a good game , but can use some tweeking , much like my spelling dose lol,
Allso the wikie dose not cover gifts you get from quest . no explanation what the do . And the gifts you can give players no description . Tweeks are needed . An open chat would increase players joining up . I ask my freinds to come n the 1st thing they ask is there a chat window . big draw bck .

The game does go slow everything take time to update. I have no problem waiting but it would be nice if there was more thing to do will I wait with in the game. It just all i have been doing the last days is log in ever hour or so to up date a building and stop playing.

Don't worry my friend, when you get to 5* level,
and you would need 100-150k gold per hour for your army, then you would want the game to be slower

Means you have to give the game every minute of your time

Attacking ruins is where you'll get most of your resources, I'm not sure what your comment about needing to make troops to hit ruins was trying to say. Are there games where you just "get resources for free" ? Sounds like no fun.
Make some allies, joint attack ruins together, this will greatly reduce the amount of troops each of you need to stack to fight ruins of your own level. Make sure you have enough healers and are winning battles without losses...that's the real way to stay where you are is lose a bunch of your troops in the process of robbing ruins...
On the amount of resources for higher level buildings subject, try to upgrade evenly. Don't have one level 7 building and 10 lvl 2's.
If you're looking at the cost of the next level and going "WOW! I'll never make that!" then there's a good sign it's out of your earning range at the moment and it can wait while you bring everything else up.
As Vesire said the game definitely ramps up as you get stronger and more research completed.
However I'm not sure it will need to take every minute of your time...
Rome wasn't build in a day.

the game starts too slow. for new players. By the time I can even start attacking ruins it was well over a week and that's putting in 8hr a day into the game and luckily I got into a guild day 2. The research and resources make the game very dull to start with.

CraygSmith, you've got a lot of free cells in your city at the moment. Try to use them all, build more Alchemist labs, as they are very important at the beginning. Quick science study will help you to develop faster.

You'll need more patience, don't sit and watch the screen for 8 hours a day for structure to complete. Construct buildings and go do something else.
Come back when they are done, start more buildings or missions. This way you won't be spending all your time in the game and feel how slow it is.
I commend you because "well over a week" or a couple weeks to begin striking ruins is very quick compared to myself.
It took me a month or more to strike my first ruins. So if that means anything to you, you're doing quite well.
You'll find the game will ramp in speed as it goes -- eventually you'll see that the game actually moves faster than you might like in the end with many things to keep track of, particularly if you get into PvP a lot.
Find another game to play if you are still frustrated, this game is played over months/years, not completed in week...very amusing to read your expectation of timeline.
