What is the main criteria for promoting?

I've seen an Esquire with 49,000,000 points, while I became a Captain when I was only about 6,000,000 on the UK server? It's so unfair - any ** players are much more powerful than me. I can only doing hard harvesting on my own lands.

Well, at a certain amount of ranking points your * rank goes up or down.

The 5 Ranks of Esquire, Captain, Master, Marshall, Suzerain are different scales of Ranking Points going from low to high respectively with Suzerain being everything from a certain large point to infinity.
