Before the sun was rising a messenger arrived at the Palace of Lords in Polaris. He was exhausted from his journey and delivered his message to the Magistrate in Polaris.

“Emperor JoeBob reports finding a great ruin and that he needs assistance to handle the hordes of monsters!”
The magistrate in Polaris reviewed the message and dismissed the message. Manticora was working night and day and he feared waking him up if it was a false report. As the magistrate stewed over whether he should deliver the message or wait until he was awake. After a short time one of Manticora’s own explorers returned with fear and joy in his eyes.
“Lord! I have found one of the ancient ruins! There were hordes of monsters!”

The Magistrate then knew the original message was real and he was risking his own life if he didn’t awake his master with the urgent message. He sent his messenger to awake Manticora with the urgent news. Meanwhile he sent additional messengers out to the generals to prepare the troops. Many had spoken of the great arch ruins, yet very few ever saw one with their own eyes. Manticora himself had been searching for years in hopes of finding one to replenish his coffers with gems. Waging wars against enemy clans required significant investment.

Manticora arrived in the Palace already dressed for war. He had a determined look in his eyes and he was nervous that an enemy would discover the ruin and attempt to destroy it first. Through the years he had heard of many tales of other leaders finding and destroying the fabled Arch Ruins and getting away with enormous amounts of the priceless black gems. Now it was his chance and he wasn’t going to delay. He quickly dispatched a messenger back to JoeBob to ready his armies to march on the ruin.
In the meantime, he sent his spies to determine what he was going to be up against.

The spies returned with news of the monster's cache. Hordes of monsters were defending the ruin, along with a great monster named Meranan. He was extremely large, barely fitting in his scaled armour. He carried a large battle axe which appeared to have felled many who tried to take his bounty. While Manticora had bested numerous monster heroes before, he had never encountered one with such an army. Knowing it would be a vicious battle he prepared all his troops that were not staying in the local ressurector and he awaited the report that JoeBob was on the way. Within minutes JoeBob sent word that his hero Oradranil was dressed out and ready for the battle.

JoeBob’s wizards scoured his vault to greatly enhance his abilities. With over a million warriors he knew they would need additional strength to make it through the monster Meranan's army. He dressed out in his best gear. He had spent many nights working on improving his weapons and armour with his runemaster in preparation for this one day. This was a battle he was not going to allow any of his troops to be left behind. Meanwhile Manticora’s most loyal and well trained hero stepped into the Great Hall in Polaris and was dressed out and ready. Manticora had previously raided his vaults to destroy the Russian Enemies, he didn’t hold the same scrolls that the great JoeBob had, but he was still a vicious hero. He was able to find a rare scroll to improve his entire army's strength against the hordes of monsters. Every battle with a monster hero he had in the past had always weakened his soldiers, so he knew this would be no different....most likely a much tougher battle than any other he had taken part of. *Emperor Lazar* was ready and had all his troops lined outside the walls of the city. They were ready for the journey and glorious battle ahead of them. The tales of Arch Ruins had been told many times but no one in the region had even seen one. This would finally be their chance to make the news!

The warriors were at the front of the formation. Their armor was glistening as the sun was now overhead. Bells rang throughout Polaris indicating the army was marching! Hundreds of thousands of troops were marching north to the fabled ruin. Manticora's Mage cast a great spell to allow his troops to rapidly catch up to JoeBob's army to join the fight. There was little time to delay with the enemies always about trying to take the most valuable resources, especially if there were any significant black gems around they would likely be close by.

Manticora met JoeBob’s horde of warriors outside the ruin…
The two leaders had personally come to ensure the battle was victorious…and to bring to loot home.
Manticora’s archers were his strongest weapon. He constantly trained them because they could deal extreme damage from great distances. As the army finally approached the ruin many of the army fell back and ran in horror. Manticora had seen this effect from many battles and knew this would be one of his toughest battles. The archers that remained finally had the monsters in range and dealt the first blow as they had the longest range.

Joebob’s warriors and Manticora’s cavalry rushed in to make the victory quick. Close quarters battle with the monsters was always brutal. Many men would fall to the hordes of monsters, yet they knew the reward would be worth the losses and marched in to battle with the monsters.

The two had dealt with monster heroes before and knew they had tricks to prevent much of their army from joining the fight. As planned, *Emperor Lazar* brought his God’s Harp to keep some of the monsters off the battlefield. With only a fraction of their army actually engaging the enemy troops it was crucial that half the monsters ran away in fear as the two great armies approached.

Even with their magic the Monsters were still outnumbered. The monster’s seemed the shrivel in their armour as the two heroes approached with their armies. The great spells they had cast made the monster's weapons heavy in their hands, made their boots heavy as they tried to defend their hero.

It was clear JoeBob and Manticora had prepared well for the battle. The monsters were slaughtered as the humans and elves seemed so much stronger and faster than them. The horde of monsters never even had a chance to run away as each and every one that stayed to battle were destroyed. The bodies were littered everywhere. The monsters that had run away were nowhere to be found after the battle, they knew what their fate would be if they came back.

All the troops who fell in battle were brought back by the healers that the two heroes had brought with them. After the battle there was much celebration as the carriers of the two armies gathered the resources and black gems to bring back to their respective capitals.

*Emperor Lazar* also discovered a rare scroll as he sifted through the great Monster Hero’s belongings. The monsters that weren’t killed in the battle dispersed so they could live another day. Both armies returned home with their black gems satisfied for the day. Plotting on how they would use the newfound wealth to defeat their enemies in the realm……

Nice. It reads a bit stiff and is a little plain, but glad to see it regardless.
I like how you worked in hints to some of the game world politics -- I will try that myself when I get a chance to write a story. ;)

Grats on ruin.

See you on the battlefield.
Before day break there were none
And as it broke there was one
The moon, the sun, it goes on'n'on

Congratulations and thank you for your story! However, it needs some further improvements. The story has to be vivid and interesting. Your story has a good structure and nice pictures, please consider working on the main characters a little more.
